Garage Sales in Plano

Did you know you have to have a permit to have a garage sale? Well, you do. It's a city ordinance (Ord. No. 99-11-16, § I, 11-8-99) .

You have to get a permit from the building inspections department.
Only residents of Plano can get a permit.
You must display your permit during the garage sale.
You can only have 3 garage sales per year. That's 3/year for each address and 3/year for each person (so, if you've had 3 and move you can't have anymore until the next year).
Sales can't last more than 72 hours. And you must wait 5 business days between sales.
Signs must be picked up within 12 hours after the sale.
